$9.3M Scandal Takes A New Turn As APC Members In The House Of Reps Stage A Walkout

Controversies trailing the $9.3m seized by the South African Government have taken a new dimension as members of the All Progressive Congress in the House of Rep staged a walkout on the House Tuesday September 23 following a stalled debate.

You will recall that a private jet with three people from Nigeria, including an Israeli, ‎conveyed the said money, which was said to be meant for the procurement of arms and ammunition to South Africa.

Attempt by House members to deliberate on the motion on Today (Tuesday) failed after a voice vote called by the presiding Deputy Speaker, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, went in favour of the majority, who opposed the debate.


Members of the All Progressive Congress of the lower house immediately began walking out on the House.

Women In Kaduna Protests Half N*de Over Recent Killings In The State

The women, who were dressed half n*de, blocked the convoy of Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero in Sanga Local Government of Kaduna State, accusing the state government of not providing enough security and protection their lives and properties.

The women who were visibly angry at the security situation in their community, threw objects and stones at the governor and his entourage, booing and chanting war songs at the same time.

Over 300 people have been killed in Sanga Local Government Area of the state in the last three months.

Abandoned Day Old Baby Found In Gutter In Lagos

A day old abandoned baby boy has been rescued from a drainage channel on Holy Timothy Street Aboru, Agbado Oke – Odo, LCDA, Lagos, Nigeria.
According to Mrs Ronke Balogun, a petty trader whose shop is almost directly opposite the drainage where the baby was found last Friday, September 19, 2014; “a male passer-by who heard the baby crying called my attention to the spot where I found the baby wrapped in a window blind.”

She further revealed that she immediately picked up the baby and took him to a nearby church, Holy Timothy K&S Church, Aboru located about twenty metres to where the day old baby was found and handed him over to a female member of the chruch, Prophetess Shola Adesanya who cleaned him (the baby) up.

$9.3Million Scandal-Kaduna Group Blast Malam El-Rufai Over Attack On Ayo Oritsejafor

A group in Kaduna State, under the aegis of the Kaduna Patriotic Youths for Development yesterday, Sunday condemned Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, for accusing the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, over alleged involvement in the $9.3m smuggled into Johannesburg, South Africa almost a fortnight ago.

The youths were unequivocal in flaying the former FCT minister over a comment, which they claimed cast aspersion on the image of the cleric, and current president of the Christian Association of Nigeria.

In a statement made available to newsmen yesterday in Kaduna, the leader of the group, Mr. Danladi Husseini-Abubakar, and the General Secretary, Ishaku Irimiya, respectively, said the attack on the CAN leader was an attack on all Christians as well as the Church of God, which must not be taken lightly.

Ebola: Sick Corps Member Abandoned By Colleague

As the federal and state governments battle hard to contain the spread of the dreaded Ebola disease, a sick corps member in Ekiti was abandoned by colleagues after he slumped at the orientation camp.

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Olusola Fasuba however, allayed their fears when he said the corps member was only suffering from chronic fever.

Ebola: NYSC Suspends Orientation In Adamawa And Five Other States

Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig Gen Johnson Olawumi has announced the suspension of this year’s Batch ‘B’ Orientation in six states including Adamawa, Bauchi, Jigawa, Borno, Gombe, and Yobe.

The 2014 Batch ‘B’ orientation was due to start on Monday September 1; but has now been suspended due to the dreaded Ebola virus disease in Nigeria.

Facebook Challenge: Watch As Mark-Zuckerberg Pours Water On His Head

In a game known as ‘The Ice Bucket Challenge’ aimed at raising money for neurodegenerative disease, Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg was pictured pouring a bucket of water on his head while encouraging Bill Gates to do the same.

‘I’m going to challenge Bill Gates, my partner at Facebook Sheryl Sandberg and Netflix founder and CEO Reed Hastings,’ he adds, before pouring the water over his head.

Ebola: Eight Victims In Stable Condition-Fashola

I don’t know how to describe this news, but sounds like something to cheer about as the Lagos State governor has provided us with an update on ten victims said to have been infected with the dreaded Ebola virus.

At a meeting with traditional rulers and religious leaders at the State House, Ikeja today; the governor was quoted as saying ‘five’ of the victims have greatly improved.

“The idea of cure is not there. The idea of bitter kola is unverified. Bathing with salt is also unverified. As at today, we have recorded two dead cases — the Liberian and the nurse. We now have 10 persons in isolation that are receiving treating. Eight of them have been confirmed positive to Ebola Virus Disease.

Ebola Scare: Panic In Edo Community As Man Dies Of Suspected Ebola


The fear of Ebola is causing panic virtually everywhere in the country as confusion reigned in a community in Edo when a man was said to have died of the virus.

Following the death of the middle aged man whom some section of the community alleged died of the dreaded Ebola Virus last Sunday in Udo community in Orhiomwon Local Government Council of Edo state.

Officials of the Ministry of Health in the state however, ran to the community which is about one hour drive from Benin City, to collect the blood sample of the deceased with a view to ascertain the actual cause of death.

I hope some Nigerians won’t die of the fear of the virus.

Ebola Outbreak: Passengers Queue For Ebola Check At Abuja Airport


In a bid to curb the spread of the deadly Ebola virus, passengers arriving both from the domestic and international wings of the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja, Nigeria are now being made to undergo intense screening.

At least the government is doing all it can to curb the spread that has already claimed the lives of two people in the country, with ten others already confirmed as having the deadly virus.

Ebola: Lagos Records Yet Another Confirmed Case

This is no longer a child’s play as the number of confirmed cases of Ebola has risen to 10

The Federal Government has confirmed another Ebola case in Lagos bringing the total number of Ebola Virus Disease victims to 10, even as 177 primary and secondary contacts of the index case have been placed under surveillance or isolation.

At a world media briefing held in the nation’s capital Abuja this morning (Monday), the Minister of Health Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu said of these 10 cases, 2 have died (the Liberian American and the Nigerian nurse) while 8 are alive and currently on treatment.

This is the situation 22 days since the dreaded EVD first landed in Nigeria.

At the sub regional level, the Ebola Virus Disease was discussed as a substantive agenda during the Summit of the Authority of Heads of State and Government in Accra Ghana.

Chukwu said  Nigeria, as usual, played its leading, pioneering and compassionate role during the Summit with the first and only donation of USD3.5 million humanitarian and capacity building aid to the three affected countries of Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, the West African Health Organization (WAHO), and the ECOWAS Ebola Fund.


Nigerians need to be more sensitive now as this is no longer a child's play
