Dud Cheque Controversy Takes A New Turn As Cleric Cautions Fr. Mbaka

Following last week’s dud check claim made by Fr. Mbaka against Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha; a cleric has advised him to ‘concentrate’ on his affairs.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province has cautioned Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka to concentrate on the affairs of his Archdiocese in Enugu, and stop prying into the business of Owerri’s Archdiocese.

Rev. father Mbaka had, last week, stirred the hornet’s nest, alleging that Governor Rochas Okorocha had once issued the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri a N50 million dud cheque for repair of Maria Assumpta Cathedral Church, Owerri.

The Archdiocesan Vicar General, Rev. Fr. Patrick Ibole, who gave the warning, not only regretted the controversy, but also noted that Mbaka was not a priest of the Archdiocese and should not have any business in such matters.
“Rev. Fr. Mbaka should restrict his restrictions to Enugu Diocese and instigate bad feelings in Owerri. Fr. Mbaka does not have the facts and should not talk about what he doesn’t know,” Fr. Ibole said.

I am sure we have not heard the last on this controversy.
